Substrate

Bonded to a min. 3 cm mortar bed over concrete slab. Self-leveling underlayment recommended for plywood subfloors. Movement joints every 8 m linear.

Setting

Modified thin-set, ANSI A118.4 / A118.11. Buttered back of tile, full-coverage bed. 2 mm grout joint, sanded grout matched to ground color.

Pre-seal

Penetrating sealer applied to face before grouting. Wipe excess, allow 4 hr cure. Failure to pre-seal will discolor the pigment face permanently.

Curing on-site

Walk-traffic at 72 hr. Furniture at 7 days. Final post-grout seal at 21 days when the cement has fully off-gassed.

Daily

pH-neutral cleaner, soft mop. Avoid acidic cleaners (vinegar, citrus) and bleach — they will etch the pigment face.

Re-seal

Penetrating sealer every 18–24 months in residential, 12 months in hospitality.

Repair

A single tile can be cut out and replaced. Order three spare tiles per 100 sq ft installed and store in original packaging.

Patina

Cement tile lightens 5–8% in the first six months and stabilizes. This is expected and welcome.
